Awakening Your Creative Magick
Through Learning to Sculpt
Saturday, 11/21 at 5:00 pm
presented by guest lecturer/artist Molly Stanton
(www.elvenelysium.com)

This class serves as a basic introduction to simple sculpting techniques.  Through the learning of some basic
skills we will explore the concept of creativity, why it is vital to your spirituality to express yourself through
some media or other, and work at eliminating the fear that you may be "uncreative" or "not talented".
The class is a melding of my creativity workshop and a beginning sculpting course.

Students will sculpt their own goddess figure out of polymer clay.
You can create either an altar object or a large focal bead.  You will learn:

•        where your childhood joy of creating went
•        basic clay conditioning and building techniques
•        how to silence your inner critic
•        how to incorporate herbs, objects, and imprints into your piece
•        how to keep your creativity flowing
•        ways to finish polymer pieces
•        techniques for curing clay

You will leave the class with your own goddess created by you and filled with your own magic!

Molly has some beads, plastic and paper leaves, glitters, paints, pearlescent powders, wire, etc.  If you wish
your goddess to be more personalized with objects of significant to you, you may want to bring them.
Examples are herbs, bits of jewelry, small crystals, and so on.  Whatever you bring will need to withstand
oven temps of about 275 degrees without melting or be appropriate for affixing to your figure after curing.

$25.00 course fee includes a simple armature, clay, your own simple tools set, and embellishments.
Exploring Witchcraft

"If I can in any way contribute to the. . . improvment of the [community] in which I live, I
shall leave it, when I am summoned out of it, with the secret satisfaction of thinking that I have
not lived in vain."

NEW! The Ostara* Book Club
First Meeting: Saturday, November 14th at 5:00 pm

Ostara* is pleased to announce it's new Book Discussion Group!  Each month or so a date will be set to have a sit
down discussion on a book chosen the month prior.  Bring your opinions and critique, and a few dollars if you would
like some pizza and a drink.  You are not required to participate each month (but we'd like it if you did!) and there is
no required fee other than to provide a copy of the book for yourself.

The first discussion scheduled will be for the book
American Gods by Neil Gaiman.  American Gods is a brilliant
piece of modern mythological fiction.  "One of the most talked about books of the new millennium,
American Gods
is a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth and across an America landscape at once eerily familiar and utterly alien.
It is, quite simply, a contemporary masterpiece." (Harper Perennial book cover).

This book presents us with a very interesting reading assignment.  There are, throughout the entire novel, many gods
and goddesses from many cultures hidden throughout the story.  How many do you think you can identify?  The
internet has many lists from people who have found the gods and goddesses.  If you've never read this book, you are
on your honor not to cheat and look them up.  It is highly recommended you purchase your own copy so you may
take notes or dog-ear pages if you want.  Among other discussions, we'll share our finds with the group.

Please email Sascha Fink (rowansterling@aol.com) if you are interested in participating. We'd like to know
approximately how many people will be reading the book.
American Gods in paperback form can be found at
Barnes and Noble and Borders in Whitehall.  It's also easily found at used bookstores and on Amazon.com.  If you
have trouble locating a copy, please let Sascha know.
